Coca-Cola has been gradually announcing the discontinuation of select national brands over the past few months, including TaB diet cola, Odwalla juices, ZICO coconut water, Coca-Cola Life, Diet Coke Feisty Cherry, and regional brands like Northern Neck Ginger Ale and Delaware Punch. This week, the company shared that it will be reducing its number of brands by about half, which means discontinuing about 200 of its brands altogether. After cutting these underperforming brands, Coca Cola will be left with approximately 200 of its most profitable “master brands” like Minute Maid and Simply. It will also be focusing more on newer products like Topo Chico hard seltzer, Coca Cola Energy, and AHA flavored sparkling water. This news has insiders predicting that brands like Dasani, Powerade, and Vitamin Water could also be on the chopping block.
